Cats Cut From Oscars

It has been a little under two weeks since the film “Cats” arrived in theaters, and movie makers are already trying to forget the box office failure once and for all.

The musical fantasy film based on the stage musical of the same name has turned out to be a complete flop for Universal Pictures. Due to the lack of critical acclaim and extremely low box office ticket sales, Universal has decided to pull the movie’s “For Your Consideration” campaign. Taylor Swift, amongst other stars of the film, are also distancing themselves from the diminished project. The film is also notably absent on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences streaming platform, where Academy members can stream contending films.

“Cats” has earned only $6.5 million at the box office on its opening weekend, a dismal number compared to the $100 million that it cost to create the movie.
