If you caught the Cavaliers-Thunder game on Sunday night, you probably noticed that Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving left the court early on in the game. At first, the team said that he had the flu, but as it turns out, it might have actually been a case of the bed bugs…”5 big a** bed bugs” to be exact.
While staying at the Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City, Irving says he was terrorized all night on Saturday by bed bugs. The next day, he felt so grossed out that he couldn’t get his mind right to play. As a result, he left the game after only playing 9 minutes.
After the game, Irving told reporters, “Our team said I was out with flu-like symptoms. It was honestly from the bed bugs from the frickin’ Hilton that we stayed at. As you can see, I got it at the top of my head, it’s just like bed bugs and I didn’t get any sleep. We came into the game, then I was freaked out, then I started feeling nauseous so it was just a whole bunch of BS honestly.”
“Just imagine how freaked out you’d be if you saw friggin 5 big ass bed bugs just sitting on your pillow,” he added. “I woke up itching and I’m just looking around and I’m like, ‘Are you serious right now?’ It was 3 a.m., and I was so tired at that point.”
If Irving did indeed get bed bugs, he needs to go ahead and throw away all his luggage from that trip.
The Hilton has since apologized profusely to Irving about his unpleasant stay. They claim that it was an isolated incident and that the room has been properly treated.
