The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is no longer going to monitor COVID-19 cases on cruise ships.
If you’re a cruise ship passenger, you’re going to have to hit up cruise lines directly if you want to know about any COVID-19 cases, as the CDC said it won’t be monitoring them on cruises anymore.
The CDC shared the news this past Monday, announcing that it has ended its COVID-19 Program for Cruise Ships. This means the agency will no longer report Coronavirus levels on commercial cruise ships that set sail on American waters, Fox Business reports.
“[The] CDC has worked closely with the cruise industry, state, territorial, and local health authorities, and federal and seaport partners to provide a safer and healthier environment for cruise passengers and crew,” said the agency.
“Cruise ships have access to guidance and tools to manage their own COVID-19 mitigation programs,” the CDC went on. “Additionally, cruise travelers have access to recommendations that allow them to make informed decisions about cruise ship travel.”
