The CDC has issued a warning for people not to swim while having diarrhea, and the visual warning it used has Twitter dying in laughter.
Last Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a statement on Twitter urging people against swimming while being sick with diarrhea, CNN reports.
“Don’t swim or let your kids swim if sick with diarrhea. One person with diarrhea can contaminate the entire pool. Learn more ways to keep you and those you care about healthy. #HealthySwimming,” the Twitter post read. The post also came with a gif showing people playing in a pool. One of the people in the gif was a child going down the slide. While she’s sliding, she’s leaving a stream of poop behind her.
The sight prompted many to voice their concerns, and others just wanted to make light of the PSA. “When you’re sliding in feet first. And you’re feeling something burst. Diarrhea. Diarrhea,” someone wrote on Twitter. “As a dad, please advise on the proper recovery technique of seeing your child shit down the water slide,” another user wrote.
Nevertheless, the CDC gave strict guidelines for what to do if you’ve been diagnosed with diarrhea, CNN reports. One of its rules is to “stay out of the water if you are sick with diarrhea. If you have been diagnosed with cryptosporidium, don’t go back in the water until two weeks after diarrhea has completely stopped.” The CDC also gives some common rules like “Shower before you get in the water,” “Don’t swallow the water” and “Don’t poop in the water.”
