It’s almost mid-April, and we’ve all been quarantined inside our households for over a month. But while we’re lucky enough to have food and a shelter over our heads, there are hundreds of thousands of individuals who are affected by the Coronavirus — including the elderly and those with respiratory issues or poor immune systems who are most in danger if tested positive. In addition, healthcare workers have been putting in relentless hours working in the field and holding it down inside hospitals and clinics.
Thankfully, the entertainment industry as a whole has been doing their part. Whether it’s Cardi B teaming up with Fashion Nova to give away $1000 an hour or Jay Z and Rihanna teaming up to donate millions to COVID-19 charities and programs, it’s been a beautiful sight to see so many leaders and influential figures do their part in using their platform for the greater good.
Baller Alert has compiled a list of A-list celebrities giving back to their communities, and how their donations can be of service.
Hip hop mogul Master P made it a point to target the elderly population in his hometown of New Orleans to make sure they are staying safe. With his mastercleanlife.com movement, he offered free hand sanitizer and home cleaning services to all senior citizens over 60 years old in NOLA. In addition, his Team Hope Foundation is donating money, groceries, water, toilet paper, house cleaning supplies, and other necessities to these senior citizens during the pandemic.
Kylie Jenner, who was recently named the youngest billionaire by Forbes, shared to her 169 million followers that she’s teaming up with Beauty United to donate essential supplies and fundraising through the Frontliners Responders Fund. She writes, “We are so grateful to the heroes who put their own lives at risk to save ours.”
Cardi B has not been shy to voice her opinions about being stuck in the house and going crazy, nor has she been when it comes to her political stance and support for Bernie Sanders.
In addition, she teamed up with Fashion Nova to give away $1000 an hour for the next 42 days. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper revealed she’ll be personally vetting through those who applied, basically by letting her know how the rack can help them during these sunken times.

Megan Thee Stallion’s #SavageChallenge has been going up, but the Houston hottie is also making sure she’s taking care of the healthcare workers. Sharing to her 2.5 million followers on Twitter, she calls on all her hotties who need some extra cash during this crazy time to hashtag #HottiesAtHome or #HealthcareHotties. Two days prior, she teamed up with Amazon Music to make donations to a Houston nursing home.
Ice Cube will forever be one of the greatest spitters on the West Coast, but he also leads by example. The “Check Yo Self” rapper recently partnered with shirt manufacturer Black Out to
Make and sell t-shirts with the title of his 1992 song printed on the front. Net proceeds will be donated to underfinanced hospitals and nurses in inner cities and rural areas across the States so that they can get the necessary supplies.
With the Millennium Tour on halt, Omarion has been doing his part in giving back to the people. The R&B singer revealed to social media he will be paying someone’s phone bill every Friday via a dance contest on the Triller app. He’s also giving out care packages to essential workers, which include his new brand of Unbothered essential oils (available on Ulta soon). When the tour resumes, a few fans will receive complimentary boxes of these oils.
Bruno Mars is one of the most successful artists in the music industry, and he continues to prove that through his actions. The Grammy-award winning singer has donated $1 million to the MGM Resorts Foundation to help out MGM employees impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The money goes directly to their Employee Emergency Grant Fund & Children’s Medical Support Fund, designed to help MGM employees and their families with short-term assistance during times of need.
Rihanna will forever have a global influence, especially during this pandemic. Her Clara Lionel Foundation donated $5 million to COVID-19 rapid response efforts in not only America but around the world. The money goes towards local food banks serving the elderly and at-risk communities, protective equipment for frontline health workers and diagnostic labs, distribution of critical respiratory supplies, and, hopefully, the acceleration in the development of vaccines and other therapies.
Roc Nation mogul Jay Z even stepped up to MATCH Badgalriri in her donations. Together, both raise a total of $2 million to help those in financial crisis, including undocumented workers in New York City and Los Angeles, children of healthcare professionals and first-responders, the homeless and elderly, and anyone else directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Partnering with Atlanta’s Emory Healthcare and the Honolulu-based Ohana One Foundation, this includes everything from face masks to isolation gowns.
Slim Thug has never hesitated to give back to the city of Houston, and this is no different. The legendary rapper was even diagnosed positive with COVID-19, quarantining himself to make sure no one else is affected. Partnering up with Smoke Shield, Slim donated 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to METRO Police Department and METRO bus drivers as they continue to work hard and serve their city.
So thankful for every single medical professional who is putting their health on the line to take care of others 🤍 I’m donating to @CedarsSinai as they are low on masks and ventilators. They’ve taken such good care of me so it’s my turn to show my gratitude.
— Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) March 31, 2020
Disney star turned singer-songwriter Selena Gomez did her part and donated a huge amount to all the doctors and nurses at Cedars-Sinai. Her ties with the hospital date back to 2017 when she needed a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with lupus. She tweets, “I’m donating to @CedarsSinai as they are low on masks and ventilators. They’ve taken such good care of me, so it’s my turn to show my gratitude.”

The organization is located in his hometown of Memphis, as he reminds folks, “every little thing counts.”
