A new film “The Power Of Love” is coming to the big screen, inspired by Celine Dion’s life.
French studio Gaumont announced Thursday that its upcoming Celine Dion project, which will be predominantly in French, will not be a biopic per se, but a fictional “homage” that draws heavily from details from the singer’s life and will feature many of her hit songs.
The film will be directed by Valerie Lemercier, who will also star as a character inspired by Dion, herself.
The story is about a character named, “Aline,” who is a young woman who grows up and a large Canadian family, and is discovered by a major talent in her teens. She then goes on to become a global sensation, who experiences a great tragedy when she loses her husband-just as it has happened to Dion.
The production is the latest project to tell the story of a celebrity singer. Following the trend set by the smash hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” about the late Freddie Mercury- which is now nominated for an Oscar for ‘Best picture of the year’ and the upcoming film “Rocket Man” about musician Elton John.
“The Power Of Love” is set for release in 2020.
