The longtime collaborators have announced their joint album, “$exy $ongs 4 U,” set to drop next Friday, which happens to be February 14th. Drake shared a teaser clip on Instagram, featuring three women in a karaoke room, one singing into a mic while the others chat. Meanwhile, PartyNextDoor’s vocals fill the air before the camera shifts to Drake, who is lounging on a sofa, lipsyncing along.
The album has been in the works for some time. During a Toronto concert last summer, Drake hinted at the project, telling fans, “On behalf of me and Party, we’ve been working on something for y’all.” He added, “When it gets a little chilly, [a] PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you.”
“$exy $ongs 4 U” follows Drizzy’s 2023 release, “For All The Dogs,” which received mixed reviews. Before its release, the Toronto staple announced plans to step back from music for a while, telling fans, “I probably won’t make music for a little bit… I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit.” There were also talks of Drake having health issues, especially when he hinted at stomach issues being one reason he was taking time away.
PartyNextDoor, the first artist signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label, dropped “PartyNextDoor 4” last April. Their history runs deep, with past collaborations like “Come and See Me,” “Loyal,” and “Wednesday Night Interlude.” Drake has even called PartyNextDoor his “favorite artist in the world.”
