This has been a crazy week for the newlyweds. After a domestic violence incident that put Evelyn Lozada in the hospital; things have been going downhill. Adding fuel to the fire the island of St. Maarten will be suing the couple if the VH1 show doesn’t air. According to numerous reports
Chad and Evelyn pocketed a cool $90,000 for their made-for-TV wedding that was expected to boost tourism to the tiny Caribbean isle.
Their reality show, Eve and Ocho, was scheduled to air in the U.S. on September 3rd but was abruptly canceled after Chad headbutted Eve in a real life argument over a condom receipt.
And that’s not all.
The cancellation set off a government scandal in St. Maarten because, as it turns out, several Council Ministers pushed the Eve and Ocho deal through Parliament without the approval of the Prime Minister and are thought to have received kickbacks!
According to the Examiner:
A source told the News Network that many in the nation’s parliament did not agree with the payment to the couple to begin with, but the Council of Ministers felt it was a good investment in “’strategic advertising’ for the island.”
The publication also writes that Finance Minister Roland Tuitt confirmed that if the VH1 reality series “Ev & Ocho” does not air, the island nation will “go ahead and retrieve the monies invested in Johnson’s wedding.”
