Taylor Simone Ledward, Chadwick Boseman’s widow, will be responsible for his parents’ burial grounds, but not his estate.
After the judge in charge of the late actor’s $3.5 million estate rejected the $23,951 bill, a source told Rolling Stone that Ledward would be paying for the plots.
According to reports, his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman will be next to Chadwick’s, and Ledward is seeking reimbursement after paying for her in-laws’ plots.
Following his death from colon cancer in August 2020, Chadwick was laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, South Carolina.
His widow, who is now the executor of Boseman’s estate, believed that the plot fees were covered expenses. The judge dismissed her request after she presented the bill for court clearance; however, they did reimburse her $47,662 for additional funeral expenses.
The $8,000 Ledward paid to Boseman’s manager, Chris Huvane, was also included in the total.
After the court’s denial, Ledward’s lawyer confirmed to the outlet on Thursday that she agreed to pay for Boseman’s parents’ entombments.
Ledward will submit a petition for final distribution to the judge by Feb. 22 after the Howard University alum died without leaving a will.
