The legendary Chaka Khan is throwing shade at artists who use auto-tune to make a hit, claiming they should be working in the post office instead of a music studio.
“There is some great stuff out there, and there are some great artists,” Khan said on Monday during the Angel Ball, “There are some very fine young artists out there doing great work that I am impressed with.”
She added, “But the others, they just need to get them a job at the Post Office — they are always hiring. People are using Auto-tune. They need to get to the Post Office quick.”
According to the diva, some of the best female artists seem to have very low self-esteem.
“I feel very sad. It saddens me deeply that so much… insecurity is present in these girls. They really need to know that they are the gold and that they really are precious.”
During the Angel Ball for Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, the singer performed hits like “I’m Every Woman” and “Tell Me Something Good” at the annual fundraiser.
