The undisputed Middleweight champion of women’s boxing, Clareesa Shields, is confident in her skills that she can go toe-to-toe with some of boxing’s heavy hitting men…like Keith Thurman and Gennady Golovkin to be exact.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In an interview with TMZ, Shields shared why she feels she could dominate the men’s division like she does in the women’s. “I spar with men. I drop men. I bust [men’s noses]. I beat men up all the time. I think I can beat up Keith Thurman … I really do,” she said.
Shields also shared how she isn’t one to be underestimated in terms of strength. She agreed fighters like Thurman, Gennady Golovkin and even her most recent opponent, Christina Hammer, may have more hitting power than she does, but she believes her boxing technique and ability are superior in other ways.
She stated, “They may be stronger than me, but their boxing ability isn’t like mine. GGG, he’s older now, but I could give GGG a run for his money. Power for power isn’t a question because what is boxing? Boxing is the sweet science. It’s not about strength… because people were saying Christina Hammer was stronger than me. They were saying all these girls were stronger than me, but did you not see the head movement that I had during the fight? See the defense? The offense? The traps I set!?”
Confidence in yourself will take you a long way!
