Over the weekend, Charlamagne Tha God caught a lot of flack for hanging out with Tomi Lahren in New York. Social media had a lot to say about the two meeting, so it was only right CthaGod addressed it on air.
The Breakfast Club hosts DJ Envy and Angela Yee took Charlamagne to ‘Breakfast Club Court’ where they discussed the meeting and whether or not they thought it was cool for Charlamagne to fraternize with someone who spews hatred towards the black community. In his defense, Charlamagne says he met with Tomi as a last ditch effort to explain to her that the rhetoric she expels on her show is not only misinformed, but dangerous.
“Do you want diplomacy or do you want division,” asked Charlamagne. “I’m talking to Tomi because I care about the rhetoric that comes out of her mouth, because she has influence. The narrative she paints about BLM is dangerous. The same way people can hit her up on social media and tell her how wrong she is, I can meet with her [in person] and tell her the same things. I don’t like talking about people, I like talking to them.”
Charlamagne goes on to say that to say he and Tomi are friends is an over exaggeration, but he doesn’t believe Tomi Lahren is racist. Instead, he believes that the  24 year old is misinformed. “I chose to inform her,” he tells his co-hosts. “I don’t know if she’s going to change or not, I just know I did my due diligence and had that conversation with her.”
Charlamagne closes by saying that if Tomi continues her reckless comments towards Black people and the Black Lives Matter movement, “F her.”
