Charlamagne Tha God is ready to clear the air with Nicki Minaj after several past unflattering comments about her song, “Anaconda.”
During a recent sit down with Jalen Rose for his Jalen Vs. Everybody podcast, the sports analyst asked Charlamagne which celebrity he would make amends with if he could. The radio host said he would love to make things right with Nicki.
“Me and Nicki used to be super. We used to be really cool,” he said before admitting that it was his comments about her single, “Anaconda,” that drove a wedge between them. He previously stated that he did not like the record at the time of its release, calling it “corny.” Nicki unfollowed the outspoken media personality on social media shortly after those comments in 2014, and there were even rumors that the Queen Barb was trying to have Charlamagne fired from his position at Power 105.1. After their rift, Nicki has never returned to the show.
“I got a lotta respect for Nicki. What Nicki has done is unprecedented. She revitalized female hip hop over the past decade,” Charlamagne added.
Nicki Minaj has not yet responded to Charlamagne’s extended olive branch. Hopefully, the two can reconnect, and we’ll see the Queen return to The Breakfast Club.
