Charles Barkley is facing backlash after saying the Georgia Bulldogs “named their mascot after the women down there.”
Some people have some words for Barkley after he seemingly compared the women in Georgia to canines. On Thursday night, during live coverage of the Dallas-Mavericks-Los Angeles Lakers game, Barkley and his co-hosts discussed Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who previously attended the University of Georgia.
“Georgia the only school in the world they named their mascot after the women down there,” Barkley said. In response, Ernie Johnson said, “So totally uncalled for…Not even gonna dignify that with a response.”
Barkley also had some unruly comments about women in San Antonio, Texas as well back in 2012. “Some big ol’ women down there…that’s a gold mine for Weight Watchers,” he said at the time while chatting about the Spurs.
“Victoria is definitely a secret [in San Antonio]…they can’t wear no Victoria’s Secret down there,” he continued, referring to the popular lingerie retailer. “They wear bloomers down there…ain’t nothing skimpy down there.”
