Celebrity cheerleader Jerry Harris is being investigated by the FBI for allegedly soliciting sexually explicit photos and sex from minors.
Harris, 21, was the breakout star of Netflix’s Cheer, a docuseries that followed Texas’ Navarro College cheerleaders, which was released in January. The show garnered six Emmy nominations.
FBI agents executed a search warrant on Harris’ Illinois home on Monday as part of their investigation.
“The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity in the area,” FBI Special Agent Siobhan Johnson told USA Today.
The allegations stem from a letter sent by Varsity Brands, a private company involved in cheerleading, to law enforcement in Florida and Texas saying the company learned of “inappropriate sexual misconduct” allegations against Harris.
Varsity’s chief legal officer included screenshots in his correspondence with law enforcement. One included a Snapchat message that showed Harris’ face and read, “Would you ever want to ****.” Another screenshot of text messages said, “Hey, btw I found a place for us to do stuff; it’s actually pretty good, haha.”
Harris has not yet been criminally charged.
