A Chicago woman is suing Netflix and filmmakers Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah, with claims that they took advantage of her with the release of Kanye West’s documentary “Jeen-yuhs.”

According to TMZ, Cynthia Love filed the lawsuit on Monday.

Previously, Love appeared in Kanye West’s 2003 music video Through the Wire, which Coodie and Chike also directed.

In the video, Cynthia can be seen dancing in a restaurant at the beginning of the video, which became Kanye’s breakthrough smash. She claims she was paid $20 for the appearance.

Now, the woman is upset that an extended version of the scene was shown in the “jeen-yuhs” documentary on Netflix, as she claims she was in an “altered state” and unable to provide consent at the time.

Love further stated that the lawsuit represents a period in her past that she’d like to leave behind. She asserts that she has maintained long-term employment, rebuilt connections with friends and family, and stayed sober for almost 18 years.

According to Cynthia, the documentary forced her to revisit unpleasant memories by exposing her troubled history to many people who were oblivious to it.

In addition, she claims that Coodie texted her son that he didn’t reach out because he assumed that she was dead.

Cynthia claims that the video has hurt her reputation and caused her emotional suffering.

Love is suing them and Netflix for $30k in damages.
