A Florida Chick-fil-A worker is being called a hero after saving a woman and a baby from being carjacked.
On Wednesday afternoon, a woman was getting her nephew out of his car seat when a man— identified as Williams Branch, 43 — approached her with a stick. According to a report, the woman said the man was “wielding it in a way she believed he would use it as a weapon.”
NBC News reports that the man then lunged at her, took her keys, and got in her car. When the woman let out screams for help, Mykel Gordon, who works at the Chick-fil-A in Fort Walton Beach, took action.
“When the victim began screaming for help, an employee at Chick-fil-A ran to intervene,” Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office stated about the arrest. Cellphone footage caught the entire throwdown. Gordon punched the man in the face, and the two eventually fell to the ground in a wrestle. Other people standing by, including other Chick-fil-A workers, eventually got involved. Still, Gordon held the man down, NBC News reports.
Branch has since been charged with carjacking with a weapon and battery.
