The Kansas City Chiefs had to cancel their practice on Thursday following a medical emergency at their facility. The team has released limited detail, but NFL Media reported that defensive lineman BJ Thompson went into cardiac arrest after suffering a seizure during a special teams meeting.
The incident prompted an immediate response from the Chiefs’ medical staff, and Thompson was swiftly taken to the hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, he’s now in stable condition.
The Chiefs had been scheduled to wrap up their final offseason training activity (OTA) of the week after sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, all team activities for Thursday were canceled, and a media session planned for the day was moved to Friday.
BJ Thompson, the Chiefs’ 2023 fifth-round pick from Stephen F. Austin, appeared in one game during his rookie season. Our thoughts are with him as he recovers.
