Singer Chilli of TLC recently addressed interracial dating, which she claims is not an issue for her.
The Streetz Morning Takeover, where host Mz Shyneka asked her for some tips on finding a “good white man.” The question seemingly caught the “Waterfalls” star off guard. She quickly made it known that “everybody has preferences,” which she doesn’t see an issue with. However, Chilli believes that race should not be a primary factor in matters of love.
“As a believer in Christ, all of us are brothers and sisters, right? And you want to be equally yoked. That’s the most important thing,” she shared.
Chilli has been dating “Boy Meets World” actor Matthew Lawrence since at least November 2022. Both have praised one another throughout their romance, admitting to being deeply in love with one another. Despite their racial differences, Chilli has made it clear that she was not searching for a white man specifically.
“You want a man that is amazing, and if he happens to be white or he happens to be Asian, then he is. But, you never go into it like ‘I want a white man,’ or ‘I want a Black man.’ I want a great God-fearing man that’s good for me, and I’m good for him, and that’s it,” Chilli explained.
Later on, she would also expound on their decision to refrain from sex until they walked down the aisle.
“So Matthew checks off the list, except for one part because we are abstaining until we get married…I prayed before, way before even meeting him, like ‘Lord, please align me with a man who is on the same page as me, and we both feel the same conviction,’” she explained.
We’re glad to see Chilli has found her person.
