In response to the Coronavirus pandemic Jack Ma, co-founder of the e-commerce giant Alibaba made a major announcement to offer much-needed aide to the United States. As China’s wealthiest man, Ma’s offer to donate 500,000 testing kits and one million masks to America as we face this pandemic is a remarkably kind gesture.
The CEO released a statement through his Jack Ma Foundation, “Drawing from my own country’s experience, speedy and accurate testing and adequate personal protective equipment for medical professionals are the most effective in preventing the spread of the virus. We can’t beat this virus unless we eliminate boundaries to resources and share our know-how and hard-earned lessons.” Ma’s great display of leadership has also led him to offer similar assistance to Korea, Japan, Italy, Iran, and Spain as they navigate this global crisis.
In the coming days, it will be even more critical to ensure proper testing is available across the country as the current projections and estimates of the viruses reach remains catastrophic. As Americans prepare to self-isolate or quarantine themselves, it’s great to know that global leaders are operating with dignity and are committed to offering global assistance as the world faces this crisis.
