Chingy Claps Back After Backlash Over Performance at LGBT Conservative Event: “Those people don’t hate me because they love my music”

Chingy found himself at the center of controversy last week after being announced as a performer at the Log Cabin Republican event, which represents LGBT conservatives. The “Right Thurr” rapper’s name appeared on a flyer for the Red White & Rock event in Nashville, Tennessee, scheduled for September 29th, alongside prominent MAGA supporters Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The unexpected booking left social media in an uproar, with many accusing Chingy of aligning himself with conservative and pro-Trump ideals.

Chingy quickly took to the comments on Baller Alert’s Instagram post to address the backlash, making it clear that his participation in the event is strictly business. “I’ma say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS. NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME,” he wrote, leaving no room for confusion about his stance.

One commenter, @paulodoom, wasn’t buying it and suggested Chingy might be struggling financially, stating, “Just tell us that you’re down bad, and the culture would rally around you. You having to shuck-n-jive for people who hate you & your people ain’t a flex, homeboy.”

But Chingy wasn’t backing down. He fired back, defending his choices and emphasizing the universality of his music. “You can’t be down bad when you just bought a 500k house pimp,” he replied. “Those people don’t hate me because they love my music. Music isn’t racist and that’s how I play it. All this nonsense y’all creating bothers me none.”

He went on to clarify his role as an artist, stating, “I’m a performer, whether these people are political, homosexual, or whatever—they all love music. I have classic records they all love, and I will perform them for them. So I hope that helps you innerstand that my job as an artist is to perform and make timeless music. That I did.”
