Chingy has officially backed out of his scheduled performance at the Red White & Rock event in Nashville, Tennessee, after facing intense backlash for being associated with the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization representing LGBT conservatives. The event, set for September 29th, also featured prominent MAGA figures Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle, leading many to question the “Right Thurr” rapper’s involvement.
Initially, Chingy took to Baller Alert’s Instagram comments to defend his participation, making it clear that his decision to perform was strictly business. “I’ma say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS. NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME,” he wrote, emphasizing that his performance was not a political endorsement.
However, after facing ongoing scrutiny and criticism, including accusations of financially struggling and performing for a community that doesn’t support him, Chingy decided to remove himself from the situation entirely. He announced his withdrawal from the event, stating, “YOU KNO WHAT JUS CAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS MESS. I HAVE DECLINED PERFORMING AND NO IM NOT A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOR SUPPORTER OF ANYONE ELSE BUT CHINGY. THURR YOU HAVE IT.”
Chingy’s decision to pull out of the event comes as he faces widespread criticism online, with fans and followers questioning his involvement with a political event that seemed at odds with his brand and past statements. In response to claims that he was “down bad” financially and seeking any opportunity to perform, Chingy clapped back, stating, “You can’t be down bad when you just bought a 500k house pimp.” He made it clear that his motivation was purely professional, adding, “Music isn’t racist and that’s how I play it.”
Despite his efforts to clarify his position, the controversy surrounding his initial involvement continued to grow, leading Chingy to ultimately step away from the event. Following his announcement, Chingy has since deactivated his Instagram account, likely as a way to distance himself from the ongoing backlash.
