Just days after the Phillidelphia Eagles were elimated from playoff contention, the Eagles have let go of Head Coach Chip Kelly.
Kelly was the head coach of the Eagles since 2013. He will finish his stint with the team with a total record of 26-21, over nearly 3 seasons. Kelly will not finish the regular season with the Eagles, who have just one Confrence-matchup left on Sunday. Reasoning in regards to the timing of the termination have yet to be released, though some speculations gear toward Kelly’s alleged unhappiness in Philadelphia.
“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” Chairman and CEO of the Eagles, Jeffrey Lurie, said in statement.
Controversy has surrounded Kelly since the start of his career with Philadelphia when receiver Desean Jackson was suddenly released after the end Kelly’s first season. Displeasure for some continued with the trade and release of other players including running back Lesean Mccoy.
Neither the Eagles, nor Chip Kelly have released an explanation for the termination as of now. BA will be sure to keep you updated.
