Chipotle Mexican Grill is giving back in a major way to some of the most essential members of the community: teachers and healthcare professionals.
The burrito chain is launching its largest giveback yet, celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5–9) and National Nurses Week (May 6–12) by giving away over $2 million worth of free food.
A total of 200,000 verified professionals—100,000 teachers and 100,000 healthcare workers—will receive free entrée e-gift cards. The giveaway runs from now through May 12, and recipients must verify their employment via ID.me to qualify.
Educators can enter at teacherthanks.chipotle.com, and healthcare workers can sign up at healthcarethanks.chipotle.com. Winners will begin receiving notifications the week of May 13.
“Teachers and healthcare professionals are such important members of the communities we serve,” said Chris Brandt, Chief Brand Officer of Chipotle. “To express our gratitude, we’re scaling up our recognition efforts.”
In addition to the giveaway, Chipotle is encouraging fans to round up their change on its app and website to support the Kids In Need Foundation and the American Nurses Foundation—two organizations working to uplift classrooms and communities nationwide.
This isn’t Chipotle’s first time giving back—since 2016, the company has gifted over $16 million in free meals to teachers and medical professionals.
