Before the start of the school year, Chipotle Mexican Grill is giving U.S. teachers a chance to receive free burritos.
During the week of August 15, the fast-casual restaurant chain plans to give away more than $1 million worth of free burritos to teachers at over 2,000 schools.
In order to select the teachers who will receive free burritos from Chipotle, a nomination pool will be compiled from “Chipotle fans” such as students, parents, family members, and friends from August 9 through August 12.
“Chipotle fans” can nominate the exceptional K-12 teachers in their lives by tagging their “Favorite educator” in a Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram post and leaving a comment about the person’s influence.
Each social media platform has created a specific area for customers to submit their entries.
Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Chipotle, said, “Teachers cultivate a better world by shaping the next generation.”
He added, “As a longtime supporter of education, we are encouraging our fans to join us in recognizing teachers and their impact on America’s youth.”
According to Chipotle’s Burritos 4 Teachers press release, the company will choose 2,000 teachers at random from comments posted on all three social media platforms.
