Chloë Bailey is defending her right to show skin in her new video for “Have Mercy.”
The 23-year-old singer is making her mark as a solo artist after getting her start as one-half of the sister duo Chloe X Halle. Her new video has a much more grown-up look and feels than her previous videos, leading some to question why she’s showing so much of herself.
She set the record straight in an Instagram Q&A session.
“Why are you showing so much skin?” Bailey said. “Because I can.”
She added, “It’s my body, and I am so proud of it, and I hope you’re proud of yours too.”
The video dropped Friday, featuring a cameo from Tina Knowles-Larson. It was directed by Karen Evans and Chloe Bailey, playing a sorority girl who turns men to stone.
