Chris Brown and Live Nation are facing a legal challenge as his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour kicks off in Miami. The trouble? A local swimwear brand says he’s stepping on their turf.
Breezy Swimwear, a Miami-based brand focused on female empowerment, filed a trademark infringement lawsuit, claiming Brown’s use of “Breezy Bowl” is causing major confusion. The brand has used the “Breezy” name since 2018 and launched its “Breezy Bowl” event in 2023 to promote their line.
Attorney John Hoover, repping Breezy Swimwear, tells TMZ Hip Hop, “Celebrities do not get to overwrite small-business names just because they are famous.”
“Breezy Swimwear coined ‘Breezy Bowl’ here in Miami; we are simply asking the court to protect that home-grown brand and end the confusion,” Hoover continued.
The issue gained momentum after Brown announced the “Breezy Bowl XX” tour in March, shortly after dealing with legal trouble in London. Now, Breezy Swim says his branding is “sullying their goodwill.”
Company CEO Kris Izquierdo adds that their Instagram handle, dedicated to promoting Breezy Bowl, has been getting messages from fans expecting Chris Brown to appear at their events.
“There’s clearly confusion,” Izquierdo said.
The company is now asking a judge to force Brown and his team to destroy any merchandise using the names “Breezy” or “Breezy Bowl,” claiming it’s damaging their business.
Chris Brown and Live Nation have yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit.
