Earlier this week, Chris Brown was accused, arrested and held for questioning on charges of alleged rape and drug offenses. However, amid the investigation into the allegations, French officials became skeptical about the accuser’s story. In fact, sources connected to the case told TMZ that “the weakest part of the case is the alleged victim’s statement to police.”
According to the publication, the victim told officials that Brown raped her in his hotel suite for 25 to 30 minutes, before she was raped again by one of Brown’s friends in another room, then again, in a third room, by another man. However, police found the story hard to believe, as she never attempted to leave or inform any of the 20 people, who were also in the room.
As a result, officials released Brown without conditions, and in turn, the singer’s legal team followed through with their defamation lawsuit.
According to TMZ, Brown’s Parisian lawyer, Raphael Chiche filed a “false accusation” complaint over the incident, citing a criminal statute for invasion of privacy – which carries a maximum sentence of 1-year in prison.
In the meantime, Brown is still in Paris, staying at the same hotel to shoot his new music video. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
