Chris Brown and Quavo have seemingly been feuding for about seven years now, and now, their beef is showing up in their music for the first time.
Brown isn’t one to shy away from putting his feelings into his music, and his latest track, “Freak,” is proof of that. Released on the deluxe version of his album 11:11, Brown doesn’t hold back when it comes to addressing his ongoing beef with Quavo.
In the track titled “Freak,” Brown take shots at Quavo rapping, “F*cking my old b*tches ain’t gon’ make us equal. Sipping that 1942 cause I don’t do no Cuervo (Quavo) / Freak b*tch, she like Casamigos, not the Migos.”
If you’re unaware, the tension between Brown and Quavo started simmering a while back, but it recently boiled over into a full-blown feud that’s been playing out in public. So, what exactly sparked this beef?
Well, like many conflicts in the entertainment world, it seems to stem from a mix of personal and professional issues. Rumors have been swirling since 2017 that Quavo was getting cozy with Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran. That same year, their issues reportedly became physical following a rumored altercation occuring at the BET Awards.
Just when things seemed to calm down, Brown and Quavo found themselves sitting uncomfortably close at a Paris Fashion Week event earlier this year. While the two appearing to be cordial, Brown took to social media shortly after the event to take shots at the Migos rapper.
“Can’t pick who you sit by,” he wrote. “F*ck all that growth sh*t. N*gga not finna fumble my bag for little n*ggas.”
Despite being at the center of the feud, Tran previously made it clear that she was not dating Quavo, regardless of how the public made it seem.
“We’re friends! … I’m single. We’re having fun and enjoying life, nothing is serious,” the model told paparazzi. “We have fun, we’re friends!”
That being said, the question still stands: where do Chris Brown and Quavo go from here? Will they bury the hatchet and mend their beef or continue to throw shots at each? Only time will tell but as of now, it looks like their feud is far from over.
