Chris Brown comes under fire after a harmless meme he shared that prompted fans to recall his history of domestic violence.
On Thursday, Brown took to his Instagram Story to share a meme that said, “Dating me is fun. You get a comedian, mental patient, and a pornstar all in one.” However, once fans noticed the meme, the singer again was scrutinized for his past actions.
“Might even get an asz whooping,” one Instagram user wrote, while another added, “He forgot boxer.”
Though many years have passed since the incident with Rihanna in 2009, and she has since forgiven him, Brown continues to be impacted by it beyond social media. In February, he alleged that the NBA rescinded his invitation to the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game due to objections from the event’s sponsors.
“I was asked by the NBA to play in the all star game this year! Only for them to call later and say they couldn’t do IT because of their sponsors like RUFFLES,” Brown wrote on Instagram. “At this point I’m sick of people bothering me and I’m tired of living in the fucking past. I POSTED THE EMAILS SO YALL COULD SEE. The NBA still was tryna get me to come and sit court side…NOT FUCKING HAPPENING.”
Ruffles later issued a statement on social media clarifying that it had no authority in determining the participants of the game. Nonetheless, Brown still wasn’t pleased with the decision.
