Chris Cuomo has been suspended by CNN indefinitely, the network announced Tuesday.
This news follows the revelation that the news anchor played a role in assisting his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo‘s damage-control efforts during his sexual misconduct scandal that forced him out of office. The network claimed that they did not know the extent of his role.
Just yesterday, state Attorney General Letitia James released subpoenaed records that show texts of Chris agreeing to contact news industry “sources” for advance information on reports regarding the then governor.
“When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly,” the spokeswoman said.
“But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”
