The death of Chris Daughtry’s stepdaughter Hannah Price has been ruled as a suicide by hanging.
Hannah’s family confirmed her death with People magazine and said the 25-year-old committed suicide while under the influence of narcotics. The toxicology results showed methamphetamine along with fentanyl was found in Hannah’s system during her death.
TMZ reported that Hannah’s boyfriend went to buy methamphetamine from a dealer. Oddly enough, Hannah was texting the same dealer asking for “something” to help her. Hannah was later found hanging by her boyfriend, with whom she was in an abusive relationship.
Chris and his wife Deanna says Hannah called them the morning of her death “in fear of her life.” Hannah alleged that her boyfriend had physically abused her and taken the car. The family then contacted the authorities to make a wellness check. Around 1 pm, police left the scene, concluding that Hannah was “ok.”
At the time, some speculated that Hannah had passed away from homicide. However, Chris’s wife Deanna later clarified the idea was just a rumor.
In their statement to People, Hannah’s family mentioned that she struggled with mental illness “from a young age.”
“We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track. We had just recently made plans with Hannah for her to seek further treatment and move closer to the family.”
