Chris Paul is leaving the Los Angeles Clippers and making his way to the Houston Rockets.
According to The Vertical, the Clippers are sending All-Star point guard to the Rockets under a deal in which they will acquire Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker and a top three protected 2018 first-round pick.
Paul agreed to opt-in for the final year of his $24.2 million contract instead of opting out and becoming an unrestricted free agent which would have allowed him to sign a new deal that started at $34 million a year. The Rockets will still have some shifting to do financially before they officially sign Chris Paul, but once they do, they’ll begin working on trying to nab Paul George from the Indiana Pacers.
Patrick Beverley has since taken to social media to express his excitement about joining a new team. “Let’s get it Clippers!!! Let’s get it,” tweeted Beverley. He also expressed his gratitude towards the Rockets organization and fans in a separate statement.
