Chris Rock says he is recovering just fine after the now-infamous Will Smith slap.
The 57-year-old comedian addressed the 2022 Oscar debacle during his standup set on Thursday at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Rock told the eager crowd that he was “okay if anybody was wondering.”
“Got most of my hearing back,” he shared. However, that was as far as the “Spiral” actor was willing to take it, letting the attendees know early on that he would not be talking in-depth about the assault.
“I’ll talk about it at some point … on Netflix,” he went on, hinting that the streamer may be the only one with enough money to get him to speak about it. Rock was in attendance last week when fellow comedian Dave Chappelle was tackled during his Netflix Is a Joke festival performance, so it is possible that a deal with the company is already in the works.
Both Will Smith and Chris Rock haven’t said much regarding the March 27th slap that occurred on the Academy Award stage. Smith has since resigned from the Academy and has been banned for ten years. There have been talks of him appearing on his wife’s platform, The Red Table Talk, to address his actions, but so far, no details have been announced for that episode. Smith has apologized publicly to Rock, stating that he acted emotionally after Rock made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s lack of hair due to alopecia.
