Several of comedy’s biggest names are coming together to honor the late comedian Paul Mooney at his forthcoming memorial service.

Legendary funnyman and “Rush Hour” star Chris Tucker will join Tiffany Haddish, David Letterman, and several other influential names in comedy to ensure that Mooney’s life and career are celebrated at the service.

Haddish and actress Marla Gibbs will be physically in attendance, while Tucker and George Wallace are expected to deliver their speeches virtually. Letterman, actor Tim Reid, the Angela & John Witherspoon Foundation, comedian J. Anthony Brown, and Richard and Tina Lawson all came together to cover the cost of the service that will be held on June 23rd.

Mooney’s death shook the comedy world last month. Roland Martin broke the news on Twitter, stating that a cousin of Mooney’s had confirmed that he’d suffered a heart attack. Tributes from fans and those in the entertainment world quickly poured in. The City of Oakland, where Mooney is from, named May 19th “Paul Mooney Day.” Hollywood comedy club, The Laugh Factory also paid tribute to the beloved star with an event featuring his loved ones sharing memories of the comedian and writer.
