After previously sharing that she’d suffered a miscarriage in 2020, Chrissy Teigen is opening up about having a life-saving abortion.
The model and cookbook writer appeared at Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit on Thursday, where she opened up about the “heartbreaking decisions” she was forced to make in order to save her life during her third pregnancy with son, Jack. Teigen revealed in her transparent speech that she and her husband, John Legend, were told that if she did not end the pregnancy, neither she nor Jack would survive. Teigen admitted that she only just realized that the procedure was an abortion, previously only referring to it as a miscarriage.
“Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance,” she shared.
Teigen admitted that telling the world that she miscarried bothered her. The social media star said she became “frustrated” that she didn’t initially refer to the situation as an abortion.
“I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion,” the 36-year-old added.
As the couple continues to work through the trauma of losing Jack, they are now celebrating another pregnancy. Teigen announced the exciting baby news last month on her Instagram. She shared a post of her protruding baby bump, writing, “joy has filled our home and hearts again.”
