Last night Chrissy Teigen announced in a series of tweets that she will be saying goodbye to Twitter because the site “no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something.”
She began by thanking and praising her fans for what they had “created.” She wrote, “Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world,” adding that, “I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends. But it’s time for me to say goodbye.”
Teigen said she was “deeply bruised” from her time online and hadn’t known how to “block out the negativity” as the thread progressed.
“My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as!” she continued.
She did confirm that she has no plans to leave Instagram, where she has 34 million followers, and made headlines last week by sharing a topless photo of her toddler.
She asked President Biden to unfollow her on Twitter so she could “flourish” in February.
Her Twitter account vanished from the social networking site shortly after she said her goodbyes to her fans.
