After suffering a miscarriage last year, Chrissy Teigen says she takes her late son’s ashes with her everywhere she goes.
During a sit down with Scary Mommy, the model and cookbook author opened up about the unimaginable loss that rocked her family. In September 2020, Teigen shared that she and her husband, John Legend suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks. The baby, who they named Jack, was cremated, and now his ashes travel with the family. The busy mom says her children, Luna and Miles, have become accustomed to the ashes being near at all times.
“When we go on a vacation or something, they always say, ‘Don’t forget baby Jack.’ And then I have to pack him up,” Teigen revealed.
The 35-year-old endured a complicated pregnancy, which included suffering a partial placental abruption. This occurs when the placenta partly or entirely parts from the inner wall of the uterus prior to delivery. The critical complication can block the baby’s oxygen supply and cause heavy bleeding in the mother.
While the loss of her baby took a devastating toll on her, Teigen says he taught her the value of living. She explains that had she delivered a healthy baby boy, she probably “wouldn’t have learned how precious life is.”
