Ciara recalled the time when she knew her relationship with her former partner, Future, was coming to an end.
During her appearance on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the singer described how the realization slowly dawned on her.
“It’s almost like your taste buds change,” she said. “You gotta also sometimes look in the mirror and reflect on yourself, like what are things that I could be doing differently in my life? I’m looking for a change but what does that mean?”
Additionally, the Atlanta native then mentioned that becoming a mother played a significant role in reshaping her perspective. Future and Ciara began dating in 2012. Two years later, the two welcomed their only child together, Future Zahir, but parted ways later that year.
“When you have a child, it’s very important to me, it’s no time to play around,” Ciara explained. “I am now responsible for another life, so what am I doing, how am I thinking that through?”
She added, “I want joy. I want to make sure my cup is full. When you’re tired, you’re tired and don’t nobody want to be tired all the time. Those are things that come to my mind when I process, when I was making a pivotal moment in my life.”
Ciara tied the knot with NFL star Russell Wilson in July 2016. The couple has since welcomed their daughter Sienna and son Win, and they are currently anticipating the arrival of their third child. Despite trying to maintain a healthy co-parenting arrangement, Ciara and Future’s relationship remains strained. In 2019, Future took a shot at Russell while appearing on FREEBANDZ RADIO Presents: THE WIZRD show, alleging that the athlete didn’t prevent Ciara from criticizing him on social media.
“He not being a man in that position,” he said. “He not tellin’ her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’ If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up. She know that. She couldn’t even bring her exes’ names up.”
