Well, it looks like it may be a little easier to get your hands on some weed if you live in Florida. Circle K gas stations and Green Thumb Industries are teaming up to make weed available in select gas stations.
Marijuana is typically sold legally in dispensaries, but now it will be available in gas stations, making Florida the first U.S state to test the new social experiment. The deal will “roll” out in 2023.
Green Thumb is a Chicago-based company and one of the largest cannabis producers in the nation. In a statement, the company explained it will be renting spaces in Circle K stores, also known as “RISE Express” stores giving customers a separate entrance and offering “a selection of branded cannabis products including RYTHM premium flower, Dogwalkers pre-rolls, incredible gummies and & Shine vapes.”
The Green Thumb products will only be available to people with medical marijuana cards. Green Thumb founder Ben Kovler released a statement.
“The opening of RISE Express stores at Circle K locations is a game-changer. Convenience is a strong channel in retail, and people want more access to cannabis. The new RISE Express model is a huge step forward in making it easier and more efficient for patients to purchase high-quality cannabis as part of their everyday routine when stopping by their local convenience store.”
It’s still unknown which stores will carry Green Thumb products, but this is just the beginning for the driven company making its mark on local territory around the country.
