The city of Beverly Hills has filed a lawsuit against a YouTube creator after he temporarily “shut down” Rodeo Drive for a parade event.
YouTube star Austin McBroom has a $200,000 lawsuit over his head now after citizens of Beverly Hills took legal action against him for blocking off Rodeo Drive on May 29. McBroom temporarily stopped traffic from coming through the area for his and a promoter’s “Youtube Takeover Parade.”
In the lawsuit, Beverly Hills Chief Communications Officer Keith Stirling named McBroom, Sheeran Hasan and Hasan’s company, Fame by Sheeraz as defendants, KNX 1070 News Radio reports. The city is looking for $200,000 in damages, claiming the parade was an example of an “unruly gathering.”
McBroom shut down Rodeo Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards, the news outlet reports. The damages reportedly are connected to public safety costs and the amount of money that was spent on the response to the shutdown.
