Justice Clarence Thomas said the Supreme Court should also reconsider other landmark rulings that protect contraception access, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
In a concurring opinion, Thomas wrote the Supreme Court should reconsider Griswold v. Connecticut, Lawrence V. Texas, and Obergefell v. Hodge, which currently protect Americans’ rights to purchase and use contraceptives without government invention and the right to same-sex relationships and same-sex marriages.
“In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.”
Ever since Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority opinion overturning Roe v, Wade was leaked earlier this year, liberal lawmakers and activists have warned that the court would likely go after the other landmark cases.
