Claressa Shields is not holding back after her suspension was lifted due to a faulty drug test—and now, she’s demanding accountability from both the media and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) for how they handled the situation.
On Tuesday, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs confirmed that Shields’ positive marijuana test was inaccurate due to a procedural error during the sample collection process. With the complaint officially closed, Shields is now cleared of any wrongdoing and free to schedule her next fight.
However, the undisputed champion is making sure the same energy used to report her suspension is applied to clearing her name. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she fired back at media outlets that were quick to cover the initial controversy.
“What y’all want, a cookie?! 🍪 Mannn listen, every network that posted I was suspended for a positive marijuana test, YOU BETTER POST THAT IT WAS AN ERROR WITH A FAULTY TEST! Shouldn’t be reporting sh*t ‘til I got the chance to defend myself! Y’all just ready to report anything bad on me! Y’all ain’t never gonna have nothing on me! Give it up! I’m going to always win 🏆.”

Shields also called out the WBO, demanding an apology after they allegedly threatened to strip her of her title before she even had a chance to prove her innocence.
“Make that apology as loud as y’all disrespect was!” she wrote, emphasizing that she has been a loyal champion to the organization and deserved support, not punishment, while the investigation was ongoing.
Hey @WorldBoxingOrg I’m
Sure y’all got the news! Make that apology as loud as y’all disrespect was! I’ve been a champion for y’all organization for many years so to threaten to strip me for my title that I worked VERY HARD FOR & not stand behind me and supporting me til I atleast…— Claressa Gwoat Shields (@Claressashields) March 20, 2025
