Claressa Shields denies the Papoose manager rumor after false claims circulated online alleging he handled her money.
The boxing champion took to social media to address ongoing claims that Papoose was her manager and received 1.6 million dollars from her career. Shields said the story is completely made up and called the rumor disrespectful and sickening.
Claressa Shields made it clear that Papoose is not her manager and never handled her business or money. She also stated that her former trainer, John “Pap” Jackson, was never her manager either and did not receive money from her.
Shields called out a commenter by name and said she is tired of people bringing what she described as foolishness to her page. She questioned how the 1.6 million number even started and said nobody has ever been able to explain where it came from.

“It’s actually sickening every time I see it,” she said, adding that she has denied the claim multiple times already.
The frustration is rooted in how often athletes have to publicly undo false money narratives. In this case, Shields said the rumor keeps dragging Papoose into conversations that have nothing to do with her business structure or finances.
Her message was simple and direct. Papoose was not her manager. Nobody received 1.6 million dollars. And she wants the story to stop being repeated.
