Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins is making headlines after announcing an aggressive push to hold social media users accountable for celebrating the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
In a statement posted to his account, Higgins vowed to use his position in Congress to pressure major tech platforms to impose lifetime bans on anyone who mocked or belittled Kirk’s death online. He argued that people who engaged in such behavior should have their accounts permanently removed and be barred from all platforms moving forward.
But Higgins didn’t stop there. He also promised to go after the livelihoods of those he considers guilty of spreading “violent political hate content.” His plan includes targeting business licenses, revoking permits, blacklisting companies, kicking individuals out of schools, and even stripping them of driver’s licenses.

According to Higgins, he described as “evil, sick” behavior in response to Kirk’s assassination. “I’m basically going to cancel with extreme prejudice,” Higgins wrote.
The statement has drawn swift attention online from his own followers, with many questioning citing free speech protections.
