The Eastern District of Michigan Attorney Office has charged Flint rapper Cliff Mac after he allegedly hired a hitman to kill a woman.
The 31-year-old (real name Clifton E. Terry III) was formally charged on Wednesday with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire resulting in personal injury, murder-for-hire resulting in personal injury, and using a firearm during a crime of violence,  according to the Eastern District of Michigan Attorney’s Office.
The indictment reads that the Michigan rapper arranged to pay 25-year-old Andre D. Sims $10,000 in cash to kill a woman in Sterling Heights.
Authorities say Sims traveled to Flint from Grand Rapids on November 27, 2020, where he secured a vehicle before driving to the victim’s place on November 28, 2020.
After leaving the house hours later, Sims allegedly fired seven to eight shots at the victim, who was struck several times.
Luckily, she survived and was able to drive off. Sims left the car at a nearby apartment complex and was picked up by Cliff Mac, who agreed to pay him $2,500 for the failed murder attempt.
The incident was captured on the victim’s home security camera, with her mother witnessing the shooting. Apparently, there were text messages between Mac and Sims, along with their cell phone locations, which laid out the case for prosecutors.
Cliff Mac faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the murder-for-hire charges.
He is also facing a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison for aiding and abetting the use and discharge of a firearm during a violent crime.
Sims was indicted for his role in the murder-for-hire plot on March 16, 2022, and was recently sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a 65-year-old woman.
Mac has also been charged with first-degree murder in a separate case for his alleged role in the killing of Devaroe Davis on August 17, 2021.
