Clipse Break Silence on Chad Hugo Split and Pharrell’s Solo Role in Reunion Album: “We’re Brothers, We Came Up Together”

Clipse is finally reuniting, but not with everyone.

The iconic duo’s upcoming album “Let God Sort Em Out,” has Pharrell Williams behind all the production, with longtime collaborator Chad Hugo missing from the process entirely. And for the first time, Pusha T and No Malice are speaking out about why.

In a new conversation with Popcast, No Malice admitted that while Hugo isn’t involved in the music, their relationship remains cool.

“Absolutely miss Chad. As far as, you know, being on the album,” he said. “But I’ll see Chad in the airport, in the street, at Buffalo Wild Wings, you know, in VA. Whatever they got going on, just hope for the best for that […] Whenever we see each other, it’s always still love. Always.”

Pusha T also spoke up, downplaying the idea that Hugo’s absence created a void.

“For me no, you know, no. Everybody knows my favorite album is ‘Hell Hath No Fury.’ Pharrell did that alone. That’s it […] Chad’s my guy. I love Chad. Pharrell’s my guy, love Chad, too. We’re brothers, we came up together,” Pusha said. “But, you know, when you say missing in the music, there is no missing in the music when it comes to the Clipse. And if it’s just P, it don’t matter—we find what we find.”

Their comments follow months of speculation after Pharrell confirmed he and Hugo are no longer speaking.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pharrell kept things cordial but clear. “No,” he said when asked if they’re in contact. “But I love him and always wish him the absolute best. I’m grateful for our time.”

The silence stems from a messy legal dispute between the two. Hugo’s legal team filed paperwork last year accusing Pharrell and his company, PW IP Holdings LLC, of attempting to lock down exclusive rights to The Neptunes’ name, despite years of working under an equal split.

The case revolves around three separate trademark applications Pharrell filed in 2022 for use on streaming platforms, music videos, and live performances.
