Legendary music producer Clive Davis confirms the late Whitney Houston had an affair with her assistant Robyn Crawford.
On Thursday, Davis sat with ‘Extra’ for an interview to discuss the “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” biopic. During the conversation, Davis confirmed that Whitney was in a romantic fling with her assistant.
“They did have a teenage, one-year affair,” Davis said.
The music producer explained why it was important to bring their relationship to the light.
“There have been so many articles that have attempted to trace her addiction to being a frustrated lesbian or never dated a man before Bobby, all of which was totally inaccurate,” he added. “I know of several men that she dated before Bobby. I mean, she did see Jermaine Jackson for two years.”
Since Whitney’s untimely 2012 death, many people have made speculations about how close she was to Robyn.
In Robyn’s 2019 memoir “A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston,” she confirmed she had a physical relationship with the iconic singer. Robyn described her first kiss with Whitney as being “long and warm like honey.”
“As we eased out of it, our eyes locked, my nerves shot up, and my heart beat furiously. Something was happening between us,” she wrote. “We never talked labels, like lesbian or gay. We just lived our lives, and I hoped it could go on that way forever.”
Robyn and Whitney ended their relationship in 1982 when she began to focus on her music career. Later on, Whitney dated Jermaine Jackson and married Bobby Brown in 1992.
