Coachella tickets are selling at a historically slow pace.
As reported by SFGate, tickets for the 2024 edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival are still on sale, which is concerning when compared to previous years. In past years, tickets would typically sell out within a remarkably short time frame, ranging from just 40 minutes in 2015 to a little over four hours in 2022. In 2023, when Frank Ocean co-headlined the event, tickets were available for purchase for only a few days.
As of Tuesday, ticket sales for Coachella 2024 have lagged behind the already sluggish sales from 2023. Tickets for the first weekend are still currently accessible at the second of the three price tiers, indicating that a substantial number of passes are still available.
One possible explanation for this slowdown could be attributed to the festival’s 2024 lineup. The roster, featuring headliners such as Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, Lana Del Rey, and No Doubt, has left some fans feeling less than enthusiastic. However, it’s important to acknowledge that this is not a new complaint for Coachella, and in the past, it hasn’t deterred fans from eagerly seeking tickets.
On Twitter, a significant number of individuals have attributed the lack of enthusiasm for Coachella this year to economic factors. They have cited the surge in job layoffs and indications of an impending recession as reasons why concertgoers may not be as eager to attend the festival.
“Aside from the economic distress everyone is in, the headliners were underwhelming tbh,” one user wrote while another added, “We coming off one of the worst years of all time. Who has the energy.”
Nevertheless, Coachella is scheduled to take place in Indio, California, spanning from Friday, April 12th, to Sunday, April 21st.
