It’s about to get much easier to drink a Jack and Coke.
Coca-Cola and Brown-Forman have teamed together to create a new canned beverage that combines Coke with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. The drink, which will also be offered in a sugar-free version, will be available in Mexico later this year before going global.
In a press release, the companies said the merger brings together “two of the world’s most recognizable and valuable trademarks” and will incorporate “clear responsibility symbols” to indicate the beverage is only for people of legal drinking age. The alcohol content will typically be 5% by volume; however, this will vary by country.
The alliance “brings together two classic American icons to deliver consumers a taste experience they love in a consistent, convenient, and portable form,” said Brown Forman CEO Lawson Whiting. He added that the new drink will “accelerate expansion and continue to grow our business around the world.”
According to a spokesperson for Brown-Forman, Mexico was chosen as the launch market since both brands are popular there, and the country has a well-developed ready-to-drink market. The companies will debut the new drink in the US sometime in 2023.
